Jacob’s journey with dogs began as a teenager, learning obedience, earning Canine Good Citizen titles for his childhood dogs, and exploring agility training. His passion for working with dogs led him to join the local kennel club, volunteer at confirmation trials, and immerse himself in the world of canine behavior.
As an adult, Jacob pursued a career in law enforcement, spending 13 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Even with a demanding career, he continued training his family dogs, teaching his children the joy of building strong, trusting relationships with their pets. When his family welcomed a new puppy, Jacob realized that training a young dog while balancing children and a high-demand job was a challenge. After experiencing the positive impact of a board-and-train program with his puppy, Jacob made a career change and joined the very company that helped train his dog, bringing his lifelong passion into a professional role.
Jacob’s training philosophy combines hands-on experience with continued education. He has completed numerous intensive training courses, is a certified Canine Good Citizen trainer and tester with the American Kennel Club, and actively participates in multiple trainer organizations and groups to exchange techniques and knowledge. He draws inspiration from renowned trainers such as Patricia McConnell, Michael Ellis, and Stephanie Vichinsky, always seeking new methods to help dogs and their owners succeed.
Jacob works with all dogs, with extensive experience in handling aggressive and reactive behaviors. He believes every dog, regardless of age or temperament, can thrive with the right approach, structure, and positive guidance. His training sessions often include real-life distractions—his family’s three cats and a bunny—to ensure dogs learn focus and reliability in any environment.
At home, Jacob’s family includes three wonderful dogs: Comet, a Beagle/Lab and trained hospice comfort dog; Tuna, an Australian Shepherd/Border Collie who excels in agility; and Penny, a Cane Corso who loves learning everything. Their pets are integral to Jacob’s training approach, helping him model behaviors, patience, and engagement for the dogs he works with professionally.
Jacob is dedicated to helping families develop meaningful relationships with their dogs through positive, practical, and effective training methods. Whether building basic obedience, tackling complex behavioral challenges, or advancing agility skills, Jacob brings decades of experience, passion, and commitment to every dog and family he works with.
