You've got questions, we've got answers!

Where they train & Stay

What is a "Board And Train"

A board and train is a style of training where your dog goes away for training for a set period of time to learn the skills they need to work on.

Which is better, a Board and Train or Lessons?

This depends totally on what you want to accomplish with your dog, and how much time you have to follow through.

Lessons can be a great option!

There are some dogs that only need to learn a few basic skills, don't intend to take them off leash, have no behavior issues, and families that have 90 minutes or so each day to train with their pup. Those would be the ideal families who would do lessons with their dog.

If your dog needs a lot of training due to behavior issues, they're a puppy and you need to start them off on the right track, you want them to be able to be off leash, or a variety of other reasons, or you simply don't have the time to spend 90 minutes a day minimum training with your pup then a board and train would be the best fit.

As our lives get busier and we have less free time board and trains have become a more popular option for many dog owners. You have a quick 10-15 minute drop off at the beginning, and a 2-3 hour training session at the end. As long as you continue to use the commands at home in everyday life you're set.

Will my dog be in a kennel at a facility all day?

No, dogs that take part in the board and train with me are kept at my home. They will spend some time in a kennel learning kennel manners, and at appropriate times such as meals and at night. However, the majority of the day your dog is training.

What is the kennel area like?

I have a dedicated kennel room where the boarding dogs, as well as my personal dogs, each have their own kennel and space. It is climate controlled, with cameras, and alarms to monitor temperature.

Are the dogs allowed play time / socializing time?

Board and train dogs never directly interact with other board and train dogs during their training, though I do incorporate play into their training time to use it as a distraction, such as helping them to learn to stop chasing a ball when called to come. Friendly dogs also get to play with my own personal dogs.

Dogs that are here to board only do get lots of play time, and if they are dog friendly will have the chance to play with my personal dogs. They also get short training sessions each day.

Do I have to muzzle condition my dog?

Not all dogs need to learn how to wear a muzzle, however if you have been asked to muzzle condition your dog you MUST muzzle condition your dog. If you need help I'm happy to assist, but for your dog's safety, and my safety, dogs that have certain types of reactivity must be able to wear a muzzle.

Can I see where my dog will be?

Yes! Many of the videos of dogs I've previously trained take place right here. Additionally, I have pictures of the kennel room, training room, and outdoor training space. Due to liability, you cannot enter some of the areas when I have dogs present.
